During this workshop we will introduce briefly the concept of cross contamination prevention. We will monitor its effectiveness through the use of a special UV reactive powder that will allow us to see exactly if the protocols we have used and proposed by us are effective and safe for people suspended.

The presentation aims to consider what are the load and forces involved during a body suspension and based on this evaluate what is the basic equipment to be used and what are the minimum requirements the gear should have for safe operation. Always from safety's point of view, it will shown the possible knots to be used during the practice, considering the friction they create on the ropes and the result on the breaking load of it, with the aim to do a search that will lead the suitable knot to be applied depending the situation. The present abstract proposes a reflection on two main topics studied during anthropological searches from 2008 to 2012 in Italy and in the United States of America (explorative phase): body modifications and body suspensions. Analyzing and comparing these subjects, exposed in the following paragraphs, the author proposes a new perspective to observe marks on bodies in the contemporary Italian culture. The research aims to verify and to improve its conclusions during the event “SusCon 2014”, thanks to the participant observation and the interviews that will be realized on the fieldwork. Each interview will be anonymous and voluntary, thanks to the co-operation of people interested to participate in the scientific search.
